Tissue Culture in Indian Oil Crops

This book emphases a detailed study on in vitro morphogenetic potential of certified commercial cultivars of soybean grown in India. The tissue culture itself is a collection of techniques used to maintain and/or grow plant cells, tissues, organs or even whole plant parts on an artificial nutrient medium under aseptic and controlled environmental conditions. The book has pointed out the purpose of investigation and relating the subject well where background and objectives of the research problem have mentioned. In vitro germination of seeds and seed viability, the effect of different auxins and cytokinins used singly and/or combinations in the medium using various explants of commercial cultivars with effect of sub-culturing on regeneration efficiency have been stated. The procedure of strengthening of shoots, rooting of elongated shoots and transfer of plantlets to soil have given. Histology of the differentiation and biochemical profiling of callus for the presence of flavonoids and phytosterols have described. The data in tables have incorporated with statistical analysis and results with good quality of photographs. This study has well recognized in Indian soybean covering all aspects where literature supports the results. We are sure that the information given in this book will prove helpful to those interested/working in the field of Botany, Plant Biotechnology and Agriculture.
